We recently attended an emergency call-out in Coventry after the homeowner reported hearing crackling noises coming from inside a wall and seeing flashing from beneath the skirting board.
After investigating, we uncovered severe overheating and burning within the electrical installation. As you can see from the photo, the customer was extremely fortunate that this didn’t develop into a much more serious fire.
One of the contributing factors was that the property still had an old rewireable fuse board, which offers very limited protection compared to modern consumer units fitted with RCD and RCBO protection.
